who are We?
EXPOSED Project Founder, one of our project managers and the subject of our first image.
The roots of the EXPOSED project come from our beautiful founder Ali, who has experienced major trauma through abuse on a number of different levels. Ali has experienced anxiety and depression from these traumas, and currently balances being a single parent to her 3 beautiful children with studying Behavioural Science (Psychology) at University.
Ali is also our first subject in the EXPOSED project, depicting her 3 traumas, troubled relationships with PTSD, harassment in the workplace and abuse in intimate relationships. She has said that at times she feels as if she has had no voice and struggles to make people understand what it feels like on the inside to have experienced these traumas, hence her lips being 'sewn' shut in her images.
Ali hopes that by being photographed with her outside interpretation of the inside impact that these traumas have imprinted on her she might be able to help people understand what it feels like. She also hopes to help and inspire others who have experienced trauma to share their stories in some way, and to show that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
